An old school anime from TOEI, based upon MECHA. Original idea came from GO NAGAI, the father of GOLDORAK and MAZINGER Z.

Project is based on this 1970s Japanese anime series which was better known in North America as a toy line and Marvel Comics series called “Shogun Warriors”.

Jules Urbach is the man spearheading the project, which is using a technology called Lightstage, a next generation of scanning technology that already won an Academy Award for its use in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”

Although not set, Urbach is looking at 2012 as a potential release date.

Gundam night show

For those who missed this:

To celebrate the original Mobile Suit Gundam 30th anniversary, a full scale 18 meter tall, 35 ton RX-78-2 robot was built in Odaiba, Tokyo and was officially unveiled last July 11th in Shiokaze Park.

This massive installation was in part of Japan’s “Green Tokyo Gundam Project“ to promote the revitalization of parks to produce a greener, more eco-friendly city for Tokyo’s next generation and future.

Mobile Suit Gundam was created and directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, spanning 43 episodes between 1979-1980. The series has since gone on to becoming an iconic symbol of Japanese anime worldwide.
